MDC-T Youths Call For The Scrapping Of 'Mugabe Holiday'
MDC-T national chairperson, Alfred Dzirutwe has said the Robert Gabriel Mugabe National Youth Day should be done away with.
Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com, Dzirutwe said commemorating the day brings bad memories, such as the Gukurahundi genocide and the 2008 elections violence. Said Dzirutwe:
Robert Gabriel Mugabe National Youth Day should actually be scrapped as it brings bad memories to the nation.
FeedbackWhenever Mugabe’s name is mentioned, what quickly comes to one’s mind is Gukurahundi.
The name Mugabe also brings bad memories of the 2008 (presidential) run-off election in which hundreds of MDC supporters were butchered and displaced.
