WATCH: Biti's Economy-Reviving Measures Zim Needs, How To Use Both USD & Zim Dollar
Former Finance Minister Tendai Biti has revealed a number of economic-reviving measures which Zimbabwe needs to adopt.
Biti who is also the vice president in the opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa said that the strategies employed by both the incumbent Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube and Reserve Bank Governor John Manguudya will not work as they lack the much-needed confidence of the people.
He also mentioned that Zimbabwe is working on a deficit as imports outweigh exports. Biti said Statutory 33 of 2019 and 142 of 2019 which banned the multicurrency system need to be repealed to allow the USD and the Zimbabwe dollar to coexist.
The outspoken MP also said that the coexistence of the two currencies will boost production in the country which will result in more exports and fewer imports and eventually deal with the country’s deficit.
