Zimbabwe Urges Travellers From Coronavirus-ravaged Countries To Stay Away

The Zimbabwe government has announced that it will cut down on “unnecessary” travel outside the country, especially to destinations in countries that have been affected by coronavirus.

In his press conference held at State House on Tuesday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa also “encouraged” travellers from high-risk countries to postpone their travel arrangements to Zimbabwe. He said:

Government has curtailed unnecessary travel outside the country, especially to destinations in countries affected by the virus.

That position remains in force. Travellers from high-risk countries are encouraged to postpone their travel arrangements to Zimbabwe for the next 30 days, starting from March 20, 2020.

Mnangagwa further banned gatherings of more than 100 people and suspended sporting events until further notice, but schools, scheduled to close in a fortnight, will remain open for now.

Zimbabwe’ borders will also remain open along with the airports without restrictions.
