Farmers Lament As Their Commodities Rot Due To 21-Day Lockdown To Prevent Spread Of COVID-19

Farmers and traders in Zimbabwe have lamented over the rot of their perishable goods which are not getting customers due to the 21-day lockdown which the government effected to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Some traders told BustopTv that they came from Manicaland and they were made aware of the lockdown when they arrived in Mbare and now they are fighting to get money to recoup costs incurred and also for busfares.

They appealed to President Emmerson Mnangagwa to authorise the reopening of agricultural markets in Mbare.

Half of the country’s population is already in severe starvation after a poor farming season last year and the lockdown confines them in their homes without food.
