ED Assures Nation That It Shall Be Well In His Easter Message

President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Sunday took to Twitter to wish Zimbabweans a peaceful, blessed, safe and happy Easter.

President Mnangagwa lamented the national lockdown imposed to arrest the spread of COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus, which has made it impossible for people to celebrate the Christian festival together. He wrote:

Wishing everyone a peaceful, blessed, safe and happy Easter. I know that this year we cannot celebrate together as we would like, but let us remain hopeful. This situation will not last forever. Things will go back to normal. In the meantime, we must be patient and responsible.

We pay tribute to our brave healthcare workers, those providing essential services, and to all those who are giving generously towards our fight against COVID-19. Together we are stronger. With discipline and unity, we will prevail. May God bless you all.

Zimbabweans were not able to celebrate Easter with the usual celebrations as they stay indoors in compliance with the government’s stay-at-home orders enacted to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Zimbabwe has 13 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases while 3 people, all males, have died of the disease.

Meanwhile, there are 1 796 013 coronavirus cases and 110 012 deaths globally. 412 001 patients have recovered.
