8 Year Old Twins Die After Spending The Night In The Mysterious Mount Nyangani

A family in Nyanga is mourning the death of their 8-year-old twin boys who went to Mount INyangani to recover stray cattle with their father and lost their way home, The Herald reports.

Tanatswa and Tendai and their nephew were reportedly found unconscious by a village search party that was searching for them after they had separated with their father after a heavy downpour separated them.

Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident and said:

Shingirai Matsiwira (35) of Village 7-Dazi under chief Saunyama, left home on April 10 with his twin sons Tanatswa and Tendai and his nephew Anesu (7).

While they were still on the mountain, heavy rains fell and they lost their way and spent the night there. In the morning, Shingirai’s wife, Tafadzwa Chitekwa informed other villagers that her husband and sons had not returned home and a search party was despatched

When the villagers found them, Shingirai, his sons and nephew were unconscious and they were ferried to Nyanga District Hospital. Tanatswa was pronounced dead on admission while his twin brother died later on that same day.

ZimParks Spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the incident and blamed the tragedy on bad weather. Many unresolved disappearance cases have taken place at Mount Inyangani.
