No Ventilators At Thorngrove Hospital In Bulawayo - Harare Mayor Pleads For Assistance On Behalf Of Thorngrove Hospital
Harare Mayor Councillor Hebert Gomba has pleaded with Zimbabweans to help equip Bulawayo’s COVID-19 isolation centre Thorngrove Infectious Diseases Hospital which he says has no ventilators but has started to admit COVID-19 patients.
Writing on Clr Gomba said:
My call is to all of us to help our Bulawayo brothers and sisters to equip the thorngrove infectious hospital ,which as of now doesn’t have ventilators and has started to admit patients…
FeedbackClr Gomba made his plea based on Bulawayo City Council assistant director of health services Dr Khulamuzi Nyathi’s remarks when he said Thorngrove was admitting their first patient yesterday and they would use an oxygen tank they have when attending to their first patient.
We are admitting our first positive patient today and are awaiting the arrival of the patient. We have an oxygen tank and other equipment readily available where our patient will be housed. We have done our best in preparation. However, we still do not have the ventilators and the respirator machines. A mild patient can do with the oxygen tank that we have. We will be closely monitoring our patient and further actions will be guided accordingly
