Harare City Council on Wednesday extended the demolition of informal sector structures to Highfields high-density suburb in Harare.
The City Fathers have taken advantage of the extended lockdown to destroy vending stalls and other roadside structures erected by informal traders who do not pay rentals to the local authority.
The ongoing operation is akin to “Operation Murambatsvina”, a large-scale slum clearance operation undertaken by the government in 2005.
