Beitbridge Isolation Facilities Almost Ready To House Returnees

The Beitbridge quarantine and Covid-19 isolation centres are not yet fully prepared to cater for an estimated 3 000 returnees from South Africa who are expected to arrive in the coming days.

This was revealed when Vice President Kembo Mohadi toured the facilities identified to handle Covid-19 related matters in the border town.

Though he said that he was impressed with the state of the isolation facilities, VP Mohadi acknowledged that there were gaps that needed to be attended to, moreso the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). He said:

What I have seen here is impressive, though there are gaps here and there, generally, everything is being done properly and gradually we are getting there.

… As for the PPEs, we know they are not adequate, but we are mobilising as the Government and we will make sure that they are evenly distributed.

VP Mohadi toured NSSA Hotel, Beitbridge Hospital Female Ward, and Dulivhadzimu Bulky Market, the centres set aside for quarantining the returnees.

Zimbabwe currently has thirty-four confirmed COVID-19 cases, including five recoveries and four deaths.
