ZUPCO Brings Back 500 Kombies

ZUPCO has reportedly brought back 500 franchised kombis into operation as traffic of people going back to work increases after the government downgraded the lockdown to level 2 and allowed more people to go back to work, The Herald reports.

This was revealed by ZUPCO’s CEO Mr Evaristo Madangwa who said this to the publication:

We have noted that after the announcement of Level 2 of the national lockdown, the number of people increased as they wanted to go to work.

We then reintroduced those commuter omnibuses that were using the Zupco franchising system. There are about 500 commuter omnibuses and about 507 buses operating countrywide.

Bus operators according to the publication are supposed to ensure that buses are disinfected twice per day, social distancing is maintained, commuters wear masks, commuter’s temperatures are checked and hands sanitised before boarding buses.
