We Can't Provide 5-star Facilities For Returnees - Mnangagwa
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said there could be an increase in coronavirus cases as more citizens return home from different countries.
Mnangagwa was addressing donors from both the public and the private sectors at State House on Thursday. He said:
I don’t understand Zimbabweans, they are everywhere and I heard there are some in ships coming from all over. Over a thousand are docked in Namibia on their way back here. But they are our people, they are welcome.
FeedbackWe can try to provide for them, but we cannot provide five-star facilities like hotels. That we can’t.
Scores of returnees have escaped from quarantine centres countrywide citing poor living conditions and more risk of being infected with the virus due to a lack of personal protective equipment and overcrowding.
Zimbabwe’s COVID-19 cases rose from 63 to 149 in just 48 hours as more returnees from South Africa and Botswana tested positive.
