A King Mzilikazi descendent, Prince Zwide Kalanga Khumalo has said they will not accept the takeover of Highlanders by would-be sponsors.
The club is struggling financially with its viability in jeopardy after its principal sponsor, Netone Cellular, withdrew its sponsorship.
The state-owned telecommunications company’s sponsorship was contractually expected to cease in 2021 but it decided to channel its resources to combating the coronavirus.
Bosso has been hunting for a sponsor since NetOne’s withdrawal to meet its salary bill.
Prince Zwide recently told Television Sports Media that control of the royal founded institution would not be ceded to sponsors. He said:
All those resources should be welcomed. However what we should never accept is for people to bring those resources so that they can control Highlanders, that we should not accept.
