ED Hoodwinked The World Into Believing He Is Better Than Mugabe - Human Rights Watch Director

Kenneth Roth the Human Rights Watch Executive Director has said President Mnangagwa has successfully managed to hoodwink the world into believing he is better than that his predecessor the late former President Robert Mugabe, the Daily News reports.
Writing on Twitter, Roth said:
To get sanctions lifted, Mnangagwa promised a new Zimbabwe, but it looks a lot like the old one because dissent can still lead to ‘disappearances’ and torture.
FeedbackPresident Mnangagwa became popular when he replaced Mugabe who ruled Zimbabwe with an iron fist for close to 4 decades. When he assumed duty he seemed tough on corruption as he ordered lifestyle audits for government officials and named and shamed forex externalisers and declared Zimbabwe was open for business and made it clear he wanted to reengage with the international community and end Zimbabwe’s years of isolation.
A few short months later, the human rights abuses in August 2018 and January 2019 and throughout 2019 were recorded, no one was convicted of corruption except for a few and he is yet to implement political reforms to get Zimbabwe back in the international community’s good graces.
