Drax Zim Representative Delish Nguwaya Out On ZWL $50 000 Bail
Controversial businessman Delish Nguwaya who was in custody for the COVID-19 scandal was today freed on ZWL $50 000 bail, ZimMorning Post reports.
Nguwaya was arrested last month on charges of lying to the government that his company was a medical firm in a bid to supply the government with medical supplies.
Nguwaya was also accused of supplying the medical sundries to the government at inflated prices after social media and the press unearthed what they called the COVIDgate in which the government was overcharged in some of the materials they received from Nguwaya’s company.
Nguwaya who was initially denied bail and was in remand for close to a month was today granted bail and in granting his bail the judge, Justice Kwenda reportedly said:
A supplier does not commit fraud by overpricing its goods’ and if there was any form of deception, that was a result of a ‘flawed procurement process.
