ZESA Blames Technical Fault At Hwange For Ongoing Load Shedding

The intermittent power cuts that are being experienced in various parts of the country have been attributed to a technical fault at Hwange Thermal Power Station and reduced imports.

In a statement on Monday, the country’s power utility, Zesa Holdings, said the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) is working flat out to restore optimum power generation at Hwange.

Zesa Holdings urged its customers to use power sparingly in the meantime. The statement read:

ZESA Holdings would like to advise its valued customers countrywide that there is a limited power supply on the national electricity grid due to a technical fault at Hwange Power Station.

The depressed power supply situation has also been compounded by the unavailability of normal import levels due to constraints in the region.

Restoration of service to optimum levels is currently underway and customers are advised to use the available power very sparingly and will be updated as the situation improves.

The inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted.
