My Finger Is Now Deformed - Cowdray Park Police Brutality Victim Breaks Down In Court

On of the Cowdray Park sisters who were brutality assaulted by ZRP officers enforcing lockdown restrictions adherence reportedly broke down in court on Monday as she narrated that one of her fingers was now deformed as a result of the assault, Newsday reports.

A teary Nokhuthula Mpofu reportedly told the court that:

In all my life, I have never been assaulted the way the police officers did to me. They made us sit down and kicked me with booted feet on my thighs. When I managed to get up, I realised that I had sustained serious injuries and there was blood all over. I was left almost out of breath. When our names were called out so that we could be booked, I could hardly walk.

Nokhuthula and Ntombizodwa Mpofu were brutally assaulted on 16 April by Simbarashe Bvekwa, Tichaona Zariro, Patson Gumoreyi, Elizabeth Denhere, Zibusiso Masuku and Christabel Munyondo who have all pleaded not guilty to the charges being levelled against them. The magistrate remanded the case to September 15 for a continuation of the trial.
