CAPS United Boss Farai Jere Granted $20 000 Bail

CAPS United Boss, businessman Farai Jere was yesterday granted $20 000 bail by Justice Pisirayi Kwenda who said he could not find compelling reasons to justify the continued incarceration of Jere and his co-accused, The Herald reports.

In granting the trio bail, Justice Kwenda reportedly exclaimed his frustration and said:

It is certainly very wrong, if it is correct and later proved that the engineers who were dispatched to UK to do due diligence lied. If the Zesa engineers misrepresented to their own employer , that is something else

The judge reportedly also censored the prosecution which reportedly failed to present a case against Jere and his co-accused and reportedly said there was an element of fraud as they presented the case of the trio and said they lied to ZESA. Justice Kwenda reportedly said:

This is the High Court. If you bring cases like this we end up writing wrong judgments . . . a serious misconduct. It is clearly wrong to bring before judges issues which have no connection with the charges

Jere and his co-accused join other high profile cases like that of Hopewell Chino’ono and Jacob Ngarivhume to be granted bail by the high court after being denied bail at some point.
