ZACC Suspends One Of Its Commissioners For Misconduct

Frank Muchengwa, a member of the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission, has been suspended by the commission for misconduct, Chronicle reports.

Muchengwa was suspended for “corruption allegations” after a complaint about improper conduct against him was raised. His suspension was confirmed by the Justice Ministry Secretary Mrs Virginia Mabhiza who said:

I can confirm that we have received a complaint against Comm Muchengwa related to corruption allegations. In terms of the Constitution, the President will now set up a tribunal to inquire on the allegations and will make the necessary recommendations. Zacc is an independent body in terms of the Constitution and Commissioners are governed the same way as Judges and other independent bodies,

ZACC Chair Justice Loice Matanda also confirmed his suspension to the publication and said:

I can only confirm that I saw the correspondences but it is not my office seized with the process.

A tribunal to determine his fitness to hold a public office will be constituted by the President. Muchengwa was sworn in as one of the anti-graft body commissioners last year in June.
