Zimbabwe Still To Make A Decision About Reopening Borders Especially Beitbridge Border Post

The government of Zimbabwe is yet to decide if they will promptly open land ports especially Beitbdridge border post, following neighbouring South Africa’s decision to open the border post to international travellers. The Sunday News reports.

This was revealed by Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Kazembe Kazembe who said the announcement by South Africa doesnt automatically mean Zimbabwe will follow suit without conducting neccesarry consultations:

I cannot say yes or no-a definite answer, but it (opening of Beitbridge border) is an issue that is under consideration, the National Taskforce on Covid-19 has to sit and deliberate, then we do consultations with the President then we will have a position soon. There is that possibility that we will re-open but it is under discussion.

However, the government will opened the airspace and allowed international travellers to come and leave Zimbabwe on 1 October. Cross border traders through their representative Killer Zivhu said they were eager to return to work and they do not mind the cost of PCR Tests.
