State Now Opposing Bail In Henrietta Rushwaya's Case
2 years ago
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has withdrawn its consent in which it was proposing that Rushwaya pays $90 000 bail and reports to ZRP twice a week and surrenders her lawyer’s house in Crowhill’s title deeds as surety that she will not abscond trial.
This was revealed by Zimlive in a Tweet that reads:
#BREAKING NPA makes U-turn, now opposes bail for Henrietta Rushwaya saying she is part of a larger syndicate. Prosecution says she was assisted in smuggling gold by some airport employees and a Central Intelligence Officer. CCTV had been switched off. Hearing continues at 2.30PM
FeedbackThe state yesterday has brought a consent to Harare Magistrate Ngoni Nduna who refused to sign it on the basis that he wanted to hear more about the case:
..you just can’t bring your consent for me to rubber stamp. So, bail application has to be done before me to give the basis of the consent. It was unfair for both the state and defence to come to court with a consent for the granting of bail.

The value involved on the case must be considered hence parties must present themselves tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9:00am with facts supporting the basis of their consent.
Twimbos have started asking why the state had agreed to the consent yesterday before they came to court.
