Chirundu Border Post Prepares For Reopening

Senator Monica Mutsvangwa this Friday led the Cabinet Taskforce on COVID-19 on a tour of Chirundu border post ahead of the expected reopening on December 1.

Senator Mutsvangwa applauded stakeholders for the work done so far and urged them to continue implementing measures that would ensure the safety of the public.

Mautsvangwa whois also the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services said:

We need to put in place all the measures because we still have this COVID-19 cloud around us. As we open up, we need to adhere to all the measures. Otherwise, we have done well through the lockdown measures. I appreciate the work you are doing under difficult circumstances. Being a taskforce member these are the issues we discussed every day and we take them seriously.

Speaking at the same event, the Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mary Mliswa underscored the need for all stakeholders in curbing of the spread and transmission of the coronavirus.

Zimbabwe is expected to re-open its borders on the 1st of December after they were closed in March following the outbreak of the coronavirus.

The coronavirus curve has of late been flattening prompting the government to ease lockdown measures.
