ZESA Pledges To Restore Power In Bulawayo By Saturday

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has blamed adverse weather conditions for prolonged power outages in Bulawayo.

In a notice this Thursday, ZETDC assured residents that power will be restored by Saturday following the deployment of teams across the city to work on the faults. The notice read:

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) would like to advise its valued customers in the City of Bulawayo and surrounding areas of extensive faults caused by strong winds and heavy rains that have caused severe damage to the power lines due to falling trees and failure of major distribution equipment which resulted in prolonged outages.

As a result, most areas may experience power outages of up to three (3) days. ZETDC teams are working round the clock to restore electricity to all affected areas and customers are advised to treat all power outlets and cables as LIVE.

Parts of Richmond, Entumbane, Cowdray Park and Norwood Suburbs are affected by the Switch Gear at Glenville Sub Station in Richmond Suburb, which was gutted by fire leading to loss of power.

Efforts to replace the equipment are underway and ZETDC hopes to restore power by Saturday 28 November 2020.

Customers will be updated as the situation improves.

The inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted.
