President Mnangagwa Takes Annual Leave

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will commence his annual leave on 1 January 2021 and will resume his official duties on 2 February 2021.

In Mnangagwa’s absence, his two deputies, Vice Presidents Kembo Mohadi and Constantino Chiwenga will take turns to be Acting Presidents.

Mohadi will be Acting President from 1 January to 14 January and Chiwenga will be Acting President from 15 January until Mnangagwa’s return.

The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Service announced on Twitter:

We wish to advise the Nation that HE, President [Emmerson Mnangagwa] will be taking his holiday break from the 1 January 2021 to the 2nd of February 2021. Hon VP Mohadi will be acting President from 1 January to 14 January 2021. Hon VP, Dr CGDN Chiwenga from 15 Jan to February 2021.

Previously, Mnangagwa took his annual leave a week into the new year (2020) and unlike his predecessor, the late Robert Mugabe who would fly to the Far East during his annual vacations, Mnangagwa decided to spend the three weeks in the country.

It is not yet clear whether the President will be out of the country for his month-long vacation.
