The Law Society of Zimbabwe Council, the Executive Secretary, Secretariat and membership would like to congratulate, Mr Sternford Moyo on his unprecedented and epoch-making election as President of the International Bar Association (IBA).
Mr Moyo is no stranger to professional leadership, having previously served as President of both the Law Society of Zimbabwe and the Southern African Development Community Lawyers’ Association (SADC-LA). He has also served as Co-Chairperson of the Human Rights Institute of the International Bar Association and most recently Mr Moyo served as the Chairman of the IBA Africa Regional Forum Mr Moyo has also served and continues to serve on numerous corporate boards. His immense wealth of leadership experience puts him in good stead to lead the global voice of the legal profession.
It fills us with pride that Mr Moyo, a former President of the LSZ and an esteemed member of the legal profession in Zimbabwe has broken new ground by ascending to the pinnacle of the legal profession. It is also striking that Mr Moyo is the first African leader to achieve this feat.
His election is testament to his leadership qualities and the strides the legal profession continues to make In Zimbabwe, the Southern Africa region and the African continent in general. We note the global challenges facing the legal profession and the world at large and have the confidence that Mr Moyo will add the critical voice that can positively impact the direction of the world today.
