Dynamos, Bosso To Clash In President’s Independence Day Trophy

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League giants, Dynamos and Highlanders popularly-known as Bosso are set to lock horns in the President’s Independence Day Trophy.

Zimbabwe commemorates its Independence from British rule annually on the 18th of April.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa made the announcement at the eighth post-cabinet media briefing this week. She said:

Two most popular clubs, Dynamos and Highlanders, will compete for honours in the President’s Independence Day Trophy under strict WHO protocols and national guidelines to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Bosso are the holders of the trophy which was last played in 2019 when they beat eternal rivals Dynamos 2-0 at the National Sports Stadium.

The tournament was not played last year after the domestic Premiership failed to kickoff in 2020 following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, local football is set to resume on 15 May after being suspended for a year.
