Trial Of GZU Pro Vice Chancellor In False Start
The trial of Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) Professor Munyaradzi Manyanga failed to take off in court after the police on Thursday indicated that investigations were still ongoing.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa had told TellZim News on Wednesday that the docket was ready and Professor Manyanga was due to be in court on Thursday.
The case was reported in January this year and it is not clear what has caused the case to drag this long.
Professor Manyanga is accused of stealing 150 chickens from his subordinate Fortune Nguvo, a janitor.
Nguwo runs an indigenous ‘road-runner’ poultry project at the university’s Mashava campus.

Nguvo and her family were away attending a funeral when Manyanga reportedly broke into her residence before stealing the chickens.
The academic reportedly sold the chickens to one Dr Shamanda.
