Alec Mudimu Available For World Cup Qualifiers
Warriors centreback Alec Mudimu will be available for the upcoming World Cup qualifying games, his club has confirmed.
The 26-year-old, who is now based in Georgia, Eastern Europe, is among a couple of regular players in the national team that will come for the games after several stars pulled out of the squad due to coronavirus travel restrictions.
His club FC Torpedo Kutaisi confirmed Mudimu’s call-up to the Warriors squad and wished him good luck. The club posted on social media:
Two footballers of our team, Fadi Zidane (Palestine) and Alec Mudimu (Zimbabwe) have been called to the national team… wish you good luck!
Zimbabwe will face South Africa at home on Friday 3 September before travelling to Ethiopia four days later.
Other players expected to come for the games include France-based pair of Tinotenda Kadewere and Marshall Munetsi, captain Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat.
Meanwhile, legendary late former Warriors coach, Reinhard Fabisch’s son, Jonah, has arrived in the country for Warriors camp ahead of the upcoming qualifiers. Sportscaster Yvonne Tendai Mangunda posted on Facebook:
Jonah Fabisch has arrived for Warriors camp ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
He is the son of the late former Warriors coach Reinhardt Fabisch and a Zimbabwean mother.
The 20-year-old plays for Humburger SV in Germany’s second division.
