Sir Alex Ferguson Reportedly Leading Charges To Bring Mauricio Pochettino To Manchester United

Former Manchester United coach, Sir Alex Ferguson, is reportedly leading the campaign to bring Paris Saint Germain coach, Mauricio Pochettino to Old Trafford following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Sky Sports reported this Monday that Pochettino, a former Tottenham Hostpur coach, is desperate to join the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, some say former Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane could be a huge piece of the puzzle.

They say Pochettino will be able to join Manchester United if Zidane is hired to replace him at PSG.

Sir Alex Ferguson has a huge voice at Old Trafford as he stands as one of the club’s legends.

Manchester United has been reduced to an average team since the departure of Ferguson while Jose Mourinho remains the most successful Manchester United manager post-Ferguson era.

Win % of Man Utd managers in the PL post-Ferguson:

  • Jose Mourinho: 58.3%
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 54.2%
  • David Moyes: 52.9%
  • Louis van Gaal: 52.4%

Trophies won by Man Utd managers post-Ferguson::

  • David Moyes – 1
  • Louis van Gaal – 1
  • Jose Mourinho – 3
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – 0

A run of five defeats in Solskjaer’s final seven league games contrasts sharply with the anticipation that surrounded the club in August when Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford in the final days of the transfer window.

United also spent over £100 million ($134 million) on Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane and managed to retain Paul Pogba as they looked to build on finishing second in the league to Manchester City last season.

However, Solskjaer was unable to assemble the pieces of his star-studded squad into a collective unit despite Ronaldo’s return of nine goals in 14 games.
