Family Awaits Autopsies On Mavhuradonha Mountain Deaths

Police say the bodies of five family members that were discovered by a hunter on Mavhuradonha Mountains on Sunday are still at Mt Darwin Hospital mortuary pending transfer to Harare.

The bodies will be transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for forensic examination as investigations continue into the cause of the deaths of the five.

The bodies of Junior Zuze (69), her daughter Moleen Zuze (29), and Moleen’s children Ever Nyamusoka (7), Joshua Wunga (5) and Pardon Mateyaunga (1) were found on on the mountain range that separates Muzarabani from Guruve.

The family left Manhondo Village, Mukumbura, Mt Darwin on foot on their way to Guruve, a distance of about 200km on 3 November.

It has not yet been established why they decided to travel such a long distance on foot but investigations by the police so far have revealed that the five were going to the homestead of Moleen Zuze’s husband, Temba Muteyaunga in Guruve.

They were expected in Guruve on 5 November, two days after leaving Mt Darwin.

When they did not arrive, Muteyaunga informed his father-in-law Milton Zuze.

A search for the family members was launched and continued for several days until the hunter stumbled on the bodies decomposing bodies on 21 November.
