Grade One Pupil Dies In Fight Over A Pencil

A Chivi grade one (1) pupil died from injuries sustained during a fight with another learner over a pencil. 

A Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) report seen by Pindula News says the fight happened on 22 September and the deceased died last week on the 5th of October. Reads the police report:

The ZRP is investigating a murder case which occurred in Ngundu, Chivi, on 22/09/22 at around 1330 hours, where two grade one pupils aged seven and six allegedly fought over a pencil on their way home from school. One of the pupils sustained severe injuries and succumbed to the injuries on 05/10/22.

Meanwhile, Police in Nkayi is investigating a suspected murder case where a body of an unknown male adult, approximately 30 years old, was found lying beside the road at the 138km peg along Bulawayo-Nkayi Road on 07/10/22.

ZRP says the victim was wearing a black T-shirt, maroon shorts, and white tackies. The body had three deep cuts on the left side of the head and bruises all over.

In a different case, police in Guruve acted on a tip-off and arrested Simbarashe Matore (35), Moses Matienga (45), Thomas Tangai (32), and Last Karande (23) on the 7th of October 2022 for unlawful possession of raw ivory near Dande Bridge, along Guruve-Mahuwe Road. 

Police recovered five pieces of ivory weighing 30.13kgs from the suspects.
