Free Transport For Shopping Trips For Civil Servants

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced that civil servants in rural areas will be provided with free transport for shopping every Saturday after a payday every month starting this month.

In a notice, the PSC revealed that teachers will be the first to start enjoying the facility, with the rest of the civil servants following on 26 February.

Starting this Saturday, a bus from Kotwa will pick up people at BSPZ leaving at 6:30 am and arrive in Harare at Fourth Street near Mukwati Building at 0900hrs while returning at 3 pm. Read part of the notice:

The PSC wishes to inform civil servants that it will be providing transport for shopping to civil servants every Saturday after a payday monthly from February 2022 onwards.

Civil servants who wish to enjoy this facility are required to carry their payslips and national IDs with them and it should be noted that the facility is free for now.

This new incentive for civil servants comes after the Government awarded them a 20 per cent salary increment backdated to 1 January, plus US$100 from the employees’ local currency component.

Teachers will receive school fees support for up to three biological children and also be allowed to import vehicles duty-free.
