ZINARA Disburses ZWL$3.2 Billion For Road Rehabilitation

The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) has started to pay out funds to road authorities, with ZWL$3.2 billion having been disbursed so far.

ZINARA said it plans to upgrade at least 7 tollgates to toll plazas, with ZWL$1.7 billion having been set aside for the project.

Speaking during an interview with The Sunday Mail, ZINARA’s public relations and marketing manager Tendai Mugabe said the Norton tollgate is currently being upgraded to a toll plaza. Said, Mugabe:

The upgrade is done by the Department of Roads, and we only provide funding but so far, we know that they have already started Norton tollgate and a tender for Shamva was also done and is now at the evaluation stage.

What we do as ZINARA is that we only fund the process and the department of roads does the upgrading. Norton tollgate is being upgraded to a toll plaza.

Last year ZWL$12 billion was allocated for road works and at least ZWL$16 billion will be advanced for road rehabilitation programmes this year.
