One person died and three others were injured in Chipinge after they were hit by a speeding motorist who had three passengers aboard his Honda Fit vehicle.
Mahlanganise Chiedzo (47) of Gaza E, Chipinge was recently arrested for running over four pedestrians along the Ngundu-Tanganda Road in Chipinge.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Manicaland Province, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the arrest of Chiedzo. He said:
The driver was speeding with three passengers aboard his Honda Fit vehicle. He lost control of the car near the 243km peg, veered off the road and ran over four pedestrians.
Sylvia Makuyana (34) died upon admission at Birchenough Bridge Hospital, while Chipo Mtisi, Brandon Sithole and two-month-old Kelvin Tembo sustained injuries.
Insp Muzondo warned drivers against speeding and urged them to always exercise caution on the road.
