Former Girlfriend Blocks Kae Chaps’ Album Release

Local musician Kae Chaps reportedly delayed releasing his new album after one of his former girlfriends allegedly engaged lawyers to go through the tracks before release.

Kae Chaps, whose real name is Kudakwashe Chapepa, rose to fame in early 2021 following the success of his single “Juzi”, which has now more than two million views on YouTube.

“Juzi” was inspired by a real-life, heart-breaking experience.

One of his former girlfriends was concerned that Kae Chaps’ new album, “It’s not me, It’s you” might have some unwanted revelations about their failed relationship.

The 13-track effort features established artistes such as Gemma, Nutty O and Holy Ten. Said the musician:

My ex sent me some lawyers… The story behind the album’s title is that it is about a whole body of work. As you noticed, I released ‘Sorry Boys’ and was just trying to point out that it is not me, it is you.

I feel like, at the end of the day, nobody wants to admit they are wrong. So, it is basically explaining how no one wants to admit that they are wrong.

Everyone wants to appear to be right, yet there are two sides to every story.

Kae Chaps also spoke about two songs on the album – “Vana Vangu” and “Hwisiri”. He said:

‘Vana Vangu’ is about everyone, because, at the end of the day, we are all parents or we are going to be parents at some point, while in ‘Hwisiri’, I talk about all the crazy stuff one does for the other gender, and we have all gone through that phase.

The album was eventually released, last Friday. | The Sunday Mail
