The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe has reported that light showers were recorded in some parts of the country this Tuesday. In a weather report and forecast seen by Pindula News, MSD said it expects sunny and warm conditions this week. Reads a report and forecast for the period 30 November to 02 December 2022:

PREAMBLE

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON WEDNESDAY 30 NOVEMBER 2022 VALID UNTIL FRIDAY 02 DECEMBER 2022.

There were light showers in the northern and eastern parts of the country yesterday, namely Manicaland, Harare Metropolitan and all Mashonaland Provinces. The highest rainfall amounts were only 23mm (Nyanga), 22mm (Mt Darwin) 21mm (Rusape) and 20mm (Mhondoro) as the atmosphere dries up further. By this morning, most areas had clear skies and cool morning conditions.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, THURSDAY 01 NOVEMBER 2022

Mostly sunny and warm daytime conditions are anticipated in most parts of the country. It should be mild both morning and evening with a gentle breeze time and again. Due to remnant moisture, brief cloudy periods and localized showers remain probable in all Mashonaland Provinces and Manicaland Province.

IMPACTS

• Hot conditions increase the extent of evapotranspiration as well as dehydration.

• Those engaged in such on-farm and other outdoor activities are reminded direct sunshine, especially in the noonday hours may be detrimental to health.

• Fluctuations of temperatures between night and day may affect the body’s health, with common colds, influenza, and fever, as well as asthma, being common.

• Less precipitation is anticipated, this will increase the need for crop monitoring for moisture stress, especially with tender shoots.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

• Take enough fluids to compensate for water loss through dehydration with medical doctors’ advice.

• Wear a sunhat/sunscreen if you need to be outdoors for prolonged periods of time.

• Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight, especially during midday.

• Where moisture stress is noted please irrigate, it may occur less in plots where Pfumvudza/Intwasa was practised.

• Fix rooftops and make sure roofing sheets are well secure during these sunny days.

• Where possible, install lightning conductors on buildings, schools and homesteads.

• Always remember, when thunder roars it is best to be indoors.

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR FRIDAY 02 DECEMBER 2022

Mostly clear skies are expected countrywide. It should be mild at first becoming hot by noon. Windy conditions are anticipated towards evening, more felt over Matabeleland South and Masvingo Provinces.
