Maruwa Promises To Make Dynamos Competitive Again

Dynamos coach Herbert “Jompano” Maruwa has vowed to restore the club’s “glamour” and end a Premier Soccer League (PSL) title drought that stretches back to 2015 when the club last won the championship under Kalisto Pasuwa.

Speaking to The Mirror in Beitbridge recently, Maruwa said that he is focused on making Dynamos competitive again so that they can challenge the likes of FC Platinum and Chicken Inn.

FC Platinum have won both the league title and the Chibuku Super Cup in the past three seasons.

Maruwa, who joined DeMbare in December following the departure of Tonderai Ndiraya, said:

We want to stop the dominance of teams like FC Platinum, Chicken Inn and others that have dominated the league in recent years.

I am glad about how we are preparing this season. We also want to close the gap between Dynamos and other big clubs.

With or without the championship, Dembare is always associated with pressure. As a coach, you have to handle it well.

Maruwa is not a newcomer to Dynamos having worked as the club’s juniors team coach before joining the first team technical department under Pasuwa.

He also spent five years in charge of Black Rhinos, where he built a competitive squad.
