Latest Pictures From Rufaro Stadium

Harare City Council (HCC) has shared the latest pictures of Rufaro Stadium which is undergoing refurbishment.

Due to years of neglect, the stadium, which is part of Zimbabwe’s rich football history, had fallen into disrepair, Pindula News previously reported.

Football matches in the top division were last played there in 2019. The ZIFA First Instance Board red-flagged it in 2020 and declared it unfit to host premier football. We present the latest pictures of Rufaro Stadium below:

Rufaro Stadium is located in the heart of Zimbabwe‘s capital city Harare in the suburb of Mbare.

It is the country’s second biggest stadium and is generally regarded as Zimbabwe‘s home of football due to it being used as a home ground by some of the country’s most successful teams such as Dynamos Football Club.

The giant stadium is owned by the Harare City Council. The local authority is responsible for its maintenance, well-being and upkeep. Besides sporting activities, the local authority also hires the stadium for other activities such as musical concerts, weddings and parties.

Harare City Council aims to finish the refurbishments before the Harare derby which pits Dynamos and Caps United on matchday 7.
