Sawu was born on October 24, 1971.
Agent Sawu was an outstanding goal scorer who also had the ability to dribble, that coupled with his physic, "Ajira" was a lethal striker. Some of the most outstanding performances in Sawu's career include a winner at the National Sports Stadium against Cameroon. Ajira broke into the limelight while playing for Zimbabwe Saints Football Club before the club gained premiership status. At Saints he was so outstanding which saw him being named Soccer Star of the Year in 1993. The following he sealed a move to Switzerland where he played for SC Kriens, BSC Young Boys, FC Lucerne, FC Wil and FC Basel. However, his most polished performance was with FC Wil where he scooped the golden boot award after scoring an impressive 28 goals in 36 appearances. Even when he Ajira turned out for Dembare in the twilight stages of his career, he was still a very prolific goal scorer.
He also played in the Chinese league for a season turning out for Chongqing Lifan. After winding down his career in South Africa, Sawu and other Zimbabwean football legends such as Zenzo Moyo, Peter Ndlovu, Benjani Mwaruwari, Musa Mguni and Nkosana Gumbo established a soccer academy with the aim of nurturing young talent.
