Amapongokwe Dam is one of Gweru's water supplies.
It is on the Amapongokwe River.
Completed in 1980.
It is an earth-fill embankment 28m high, 1215m long, with a concrete spillway. Surface area is 530ha, and capacity is 40 million m³. There is capacity for enlargement, however the dam capacity is believed to be larger than the catchment can supply.
