Ian Crozier is a Zimbabwean born American physician. Whilst working in West Africa in 2014 Ian contracted the Ebola virus disease.


Backround

Crozier was born in Masvingo, Zimbabwe.[1].When he was Ten years old his family moved to the United States.

Education

Crozier attended Vanderbilt University and earned his M.D. in 1997.[2] . He completed his training in internal medicine and infectious disease at Vanderbilt.

Crozier also worked in Uganda where he trained Doctors in the area of HIV.

Ebola virus disease

Crozier volunteered with the World Health Organization at the Ebola Treatment Unit in Kenema, Sierra Leone beginning in August 2014.Crozier first began experiencing symptoms of Ebola on September 6.[3]. On September 9, he was evacuated by the WHO to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, becoming the third American to be transported there to be treated for Ebola.
