Ian Debango Gorowa is a former Zimbabwean international football player and the current national soccer team coach. Gorowa made a name for himself when he became one of the best wingers at the Cape Town Spurs in the 1990s. Gorowa's football career suffered a premature death when he picked an injury that led him to retirement at age 28. talented coach, Gorowa continue to make history as a calculative coach. In 2013 when he took over as the Warriors coach, the team had massively improved with a commendable fourth place finish at the 2013 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Club career

Gorowa started his career at army side Black Rhinos Football Club. He later moved to Dynamos where he was known for his quick anger. He later relocated to South Africa where he joined the Cape town Spurs(now Ajax cape),a sister club to Netherlands’ Ajax Amsterdam. Gorowa was to be incorporated where he scored 11 goals and was capped 26 times for the national team.^[1] Gorowa's success as a footballer ended at age 28 aftera sustained an injury when playing against Vaal Professionals FC. The injury led him to retirement.

Coaching career

After retirement as a footballer, after his retirement, Gorowa remained in South Africa where he became Spurs’ assistant coach. His fortunes continued to increase becoming one of the club's development coaches after Spurs merged with Seven Stars to form Ajax Cape Town. Dibango rose through the ranks to become assistant coach. As assistant he facilitated the team to win the 2007 ABSA Cup — the club’s first major trophy since 2000.^[2] He later signed a three year contract with The Birds in June 2007. After the expiry of the contact he joined Thanda Royal Zulu as an assistant coach after which he took a similar position at Mamelodi Sundowns.
