Jerà is a Zimbabwean born writer, who is known for the signature line ”my pen is capped.” His work can be found in The Zimbabwean, a weekly newspaper published by Trish and Wilf Mbanga. Jerà's writing style is witty, conversational and often bitingly honest. The mononymous writer began by writing poetry before venturing into short stories and analytical opinion pieces.

His work is influenced by Zimbabwean greats Sam Munyavi and Shimmer Chinodya, as well other writers; Sir Salman Rushdie, Chuck Palahniuk and Julian Barnes.
