Farai Serima aka Juntal is an award-winning Zimbabwean rhumba artist. Juntal has titled himself King of Rhumba and he is managed by Luckmore Kambadza. In 2012 his song and video Amai Bhoyi won the 2012 NAMA Awards.

Education

Juntal attended Seke 4 Primary School and Specis College.

Mutupo Controversy

It was reported that Juntal was accused of plagiarising the beat of his song, Mutupo from Ivorian singer Bebi Philip’s 2014 hit Balaumba. When he was interviewed Juntal denied that he copied the song but indicated that he liked the publicity the controversy brought to him.

“As far as I am concerned the songs are different. The beat in most rhumba songs generally sounds the same that is why I am not surprised that some people think I copied someone’s song,” said Juntal.

“Though some people are saying this and that, the debate around my song shows that it has attracted attention in Zimbabwe and in the Diaspora,”[1]
