Loice Matanda Moyo is a Zimbabwean lawyer and a judge of the High Court of Zimbabwe. She is the current chairperson of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission a role she assumed in March 2019.

Career[edit]

Matanda - Moyo was president of the Labour Court. At one stage she was Director of Public Prosecution in the Attorney General’s office. [1] She had also practised privately when she was in Bulawayo.

Matanda Moyo was appointed judge of the High Court of Zimbabwe by the then President Robert Mugabe in 2013. She was sworn in on the 14th of July 2014. [2] Before her appointment as a High Court judge, Justice Matanda Moyo was the president of the Labour Court. At one stage she was the Director of Public Prosecution in the Attorney General’s office.[2] She is married to Retired Lieutenant-General Sibusiso Busi Moyo, the general who became the face of the military invention by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces in November 2017.

ZEC Chairperson[edit]

After the resignation of Rita Makarau as the ZEC chairman it was reported that Matanda-Moyo was being considered as her replacement as she is reportedly non-partisan. Matanda-Moyo's name was mentioned among the front-runners that the president would consider which include Elizabeth Gwaunza, George Chiweshe, Priscilla Chigumba, Chinembiri Bhunu, Emmanuel Magade and Gerald Mhlotshwa. Personal Life[edit]

Matanda Moyo is the wife of the prominent politician and military general Sibusiso Moyo known most for announcing the November 2017 military coup on ZBC TV.
