News:Another Dry Weekend For Harare

<vote /> In a statement, Harare City Council acting corporate communications manager Mr Michael Chideme notified Harare residents that suburbs in Harare will run without water between today and Monday following a complete shutdown of Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant to allow for the installation of new equipment.

He said that the shutdown will affect all Harare suburbs and Kuwadzana extension will be affected until August 7 and that bowsers would be deployed in Kuwadzana during this period.

Chideme said,

We are advising residents that there will be a complete shutdown of the Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant from Friday 29th of July at 2000 hrs to Monday, 1 August at 0800 hrs. The purpose of the shutdown is to allow the scheduled installation of new equipment at the water treatment plant under the ongoing rehabilitation project. Water interruptions are anticipated during the shutdown.

Major maintenance works have been in process as part of the city’s implementation of the Harare Water and Sanitation Rehabilitation Project under a $144 million Chinese loan facility.
