<vote /> Tajamuka/Sesjikile Campaign member Linda Masarira's case will be heard on August 11, 2016. Masarira appeared before Mbare Magistrate facing charges of inciting public violence. The Magistrate deferred the matter to 11 August after denying her lawyer's request to have the matter referred to the Constitutional Court.

Masarira's lawyers had made an application seeking to have the matter referred to the Constitutional Court citing that Linda and others had been detained by the police for more than 48 hours as required by the Constitution. The Magistrate denied the application on the basis that the defense had not made the appeal the last time the case was heard. The defense also requested that Masarira be transferred to Mutare Female Prison temporarily and this request was also denied.

The defense however highlighted that they will apply for dismissal on next hearing of the matter should no trial date be set on 11 August.

A lot of people among them, YARD leader Temba Mliswa, Patson Dzamara and Viva Zimbabwe founder Acie Lumumba, turned up to support Masarira during her trial. MDC-T Vice President Nelson Chamisa was the assistant lawyer.
