News:Chinamasa apologises for premature pronouncement of bond notes

<vote /> Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa yesterday admitted the Government of Zimbabwe made a mistake by prematurely announcing the bond notes in May.

While addressing the Senate Chinamasa said that,

"My apology of course is that I've admitted on other forums and I admit it's a mistake. The mistake is that we made a pronouncement on the issuance of bond notes prematurely. I would have preferred, with the hindsight that we done so almost about the time we were issuing."

The senators encouraged the minister and the RBZ to increase awareness campaigns and educational programmes on bond notes to clear negative perceptions about the initiative.
