The late Solomon Mujuru 's body was found on August 16 2011 (today) at his farm house at Ruzawi estate in Beatrice about 100 km from Harare. Mujuru has been in the news of late including allegations that the late General connived with Morgan Tsvangirai to topple Robert Mugabe from power.

Here are five things you did not know about Solomon Mujuru:

1. He was born Solomon Mutusva on the 1st of May 1949 in Chivhu.

2. He first joined ZAPU's military wing ZIPRA in the 1960s before he joined ZANU's ZANLA in 1971.

3. In 1994 he was elected Member of Parliament of Chikomba district representing Zanu-PF. He held the position up to 2000.

4. President Mugabe said Mujuru managed to escape from the third floor through a window when his hotel room was engulfed by fire in Switzerland in 1976 during the Geneva talks.

5. The courts ruled out any foul play in Mujuru's death.
