News:Journalists Assaulted By Riot Police For Covering Anti-Bond Notes March

Riot police assaulted and smashed a camera belonging to a journalist by the name Tendai. The journalist was covering the march which the High Court had given a stamp of approval yesterday. (read more here)

Al Jezeera's Haru Mutasa confirmed via a tweet that she was also assaulted,

#Zimbabwe some journalists were beaten today. I only got two hard claps with a baton stick, but others are worse off #journalismisnotacrime.

They also forcefully dispersed the marchers who were marching peacefully. The police were in no way provoked into attacking the marchers who were headed for parliament where they intended to deliver a petition concerning jobs. (read the full story here)

After the July 6 Stay Away, the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) issued a circular prohibiting government owned as well as private broadcasters from broadcasting demonstrations. They warned that any broadcaster caught covering demonstrations would risk having their license revoked. (read more here)
