<vote /> The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) have revealed that Linda Masarira who was arrested during the on July 6th stay away called for by Evan Mawarire, was arrested with several other people during nationwide public protests and has been in remand prison for over a month. The other 10 have since been granted bail.

Her urgent application challenging her continued incarceration has been set down for Monday 26 September before Justice Mangota. ZLHR senior member, Andrew Makoni, filed the urgent application. Apart from challenging Masarira's continued stay in jail, the application seeks to compel authorities to produce Linda at the High Court. Makoni’s application notes that the continued imprisonment of Masarira violates her constitutional right to freedom of movement.

Her case was this week postponed after the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services(ZPCS) failed to bring Masarira to court on time. She was also moved to the male section of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison after a riot broke out in the female section. Masarira was accused of inciting female prisoners to speak out.
